Just got done reading a great (gen!) SPN fic here: http://monkeycrackmary.livejournal.com/576946.html

which got me in the mood to look up Black Dogs on wikipedia.org. Apparently, the legend pops up in many places, including an English city by the name of Winchester:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barghest

Well, it amused me.

This thought just popped into my head. Maybe it's a stupid thought:

Sam is obviously a democrat and/or liberal. Does that make Dean a republican and/or conservative? Does Dean read a newspaper for anything other than signs of monsters? Like stuff on politics and current events? He seems like he might read the Comics.

Fucking Local WB Station

Posted on 2006.01.12 at 13:21
It's already been two days since the stupid WB station where I'm currently residing at played BASKETBALL!! instead of the new Supernatural episode. And those fuckers showed the new Gilmore Girls episode right before it! So why'd they have to shortchange me on the new Winchester action. Why, why, does the universe hate me. ::melodramatic angst:: I called up my mother back home (only three hours away, in a different part of VA) to ask if the WB was showing SPN over there. And it was! So unfair. My only hope is that the WB will rerun the latest episode of SPN on Sunday like they have been. But that fucks up my viewing of the new season of 24. Bastards. I am sooo jealous of all you people who got to see SPN on Tuesday. Very very jealous. And depressed.

Okay, this is a long shot, but somebody, anybody out there, help me out:

There's this song in an ep of Queer as Folk Us that plays while (I believe) Justin and Brian are having another make-up scene while they dance at the club. I'm pretty sure it's a closing scene to the ep. It's kind of new-wave-y, I guess. It goes something like:

I used to think that the day would never come . . .

Who sings that? Title??

It's driving me nuts! I want this song so bad. Someone clue me in, if you're listening?

Your Life Path Number Is 1

Your Life Path is is characterized by individualist desires, independence, and the need for personal attainment.

The purpose to be fulfilled on this Life Path is that of becoming independent.

This is a two part learning process; first, you must learn to stand on your own two feet and learn not to depend on others. After you are indeed free and independent, you must learn to be a leader.

Many of our generals, corporate leaders, and political leaders are men and women having the Life Path number 1.

You always have the potential for greatness as a leader, and you may fail as a follower.

Many 1's spend most of their lives shaking off their dependent side.

When this happens, there is little time left for enjoying the rewards to be gained through independence.

You may have to overcome an environment in which it is very easy to be dependent - and difficult to be independent.

You have an abundance or creative inspiration - and possess the enthusiasm and drive to accomplish a great deal.

Your drive and potential for action comes directly from the enormous depth of strength you have/

This includes both the physical and inner varieties of strength.

With this strength comes utter determination and the capability to lead.

As a natural leader you have a flair for taking charge of any situation.

Highly original, you may have talents as an inventor or innovator of some sort.

In any work that you choose, your independent attitude can show through.

You have very strong personal needs and desires, and you feel it is always necessary to follow your own convictions.

You are ambitious, and either understand or must learn the need for aggressive action to promote yourself.

Although you may hide the fact for social reasons, you are highly self-centered and demand to have your way in most circumstances.

If you are not fully developed, you may express the negative side of your number.

That means your demeanor may appear very dependent rather than independent.

If this is the case, you are likely to be very dissatisfied with your circumstances and long for self-sufficiency.

On the strong side of this negative curve, the 1 energy can become too self-serving, selfish and egotistical. Over-confidence and impatience are the weak side of your Life Path.

Uh, so I was watching the extra features on my brand-new "Dead Leaves" DVD--a pretty cool anime movie--when I checked out the feature "True or Doubt". It was a Japanese late night talk show where they played a drinking game that involved the director and two of the voice actors--who were the guests--drawing cards from a jar and saying something about the topic on the card. Everybody else guesses if it's a true or false statement. If there is "doubt" from the other players, they say so, and the player who drew the card reveals whether or not what he said was true. If it was, and the other players guessed wrong, they have to drink a shot of this electric blue alcohol that looks like "detergent" as one of the voice actors points out. The host was having trouble explaining the rules because he said he'd already been drinking for an hour and was feeling "woozy". And it was very clear that he was.

Since the director's first "True or Doubt" turned out to be true, the two male voice actors had to drink a shot of the blue stuff after guessing wrong. They kept saying how "stiff" it was and coughing. The next turn belonged to the guy who did the voice of the male lead, "Retro", which is a very insane, high-energy, horn-dog type of character who also happens to have a tv-set for a head. The guy who does Retro's voice had to say something about his personal life. The host urged him to tell the "nitty gritty" details. (This is all according to the subtitles, anyway.) At first the actor freaks out and is like, "My personal life?!" But then he launches into the fact that he is such good friends with the male voice actor (who's not on the show tonight) who plays "Dick Drill" (Yes, there is a character called Dick Drill, who has a giant pointy gold drill bit for a dick that is almost as tall as the rest of him) that they both know the exact way each other masturbates. At this point I'm squealing at the tv--OMGWTF!! Too much information! I can't believe you just said that!

The other voice actor present who was sitting next to him, says that is too private. No shit. Especially when you're broadcasting this on television to who knows how many Japanese and it's getting put on the DVD. The host is like, You know *exactly* how?

The conversation deteriorates into the director making some off-handed remark about getting a "manicure", and my naive little innocent bunny mind mistook this for an abrupt change of subject about getting your nails done. Apparently, it's not that kind of manicure. The guy who does the voice of Retro says he never heard of that. The director then starts to explain and Retro-guy is like, Oh, so you reach around back? as he demonstrates what he means by acting it out and at that point I admit I puss out and can't watch anymore and I turn it off. So yeah, I think I'll work up the courage to watch the rest of it tomorrow just out of morbid curiousity to see how bad it gets once they really get hammered.

In the recording at the studio extra, the Retro voice actor says the main thing that attracted him to the part was the balance between the character's tv-set head and the look of his naked body. Another male voice actor replies, "What a fetish!" And Retro-actor is like, "Yeah, that's exactly it."

@_@ Is it just me or are these people too honest? I mean, you're not gonna hear American actors saying things like that, are you?

Samurai Champloo Rec

So I thought I'd link to this because Samurai Champloo has so few fics lying around and this one was pretty good, if anyone was interested. I see Jin as less controlling than this and Mugen as not willing to take orders from anyone, even during sex, but then again I've only seen a grand total of two episodes out of the entire anime, so what do I know? (I can't wait for seeing the whole thing this summer on CartoonNetwork!) Despite that, I'd say this story is pretty well-written (and short--man, I wish there was some long jin/mugen out there) and there were a few lines in there that I really liked. Even though I somewhat disagreed with Mugen's characterization, some of his random thoughts and actions spoke very true of his character to me.

My favorite line: There are crickets in the background and Mugen almost wishes he could
speak their language, if only to ask them why they never just shut the
fuck up so he can get some rest.
